An open letter from Dirk

First Things First: Thank You!

Hi everybody, and thank you for being an important part of the journey that Plugin Alliance was fortunate enough to go through in the past few years. It's a clichι phrase, but it's true: we couldn't have done it without you! The last 12 months were the most exciting and successful times we have ever had, and we know from your feedback on social media that you enjoy using more and more of our plugins as they become more affordable these days.

Since the opening of the Plugin Alliance in January 2012 the landscape for developing and marketing professional music software has changed quite a lot. We have seen new brands come and succeed, and we have seen once-established companies disappear. Pricing and marketing of plugins have changed drastically over the last few years. Hobby producers and semi-pros have the chance today to use the same tools that are being used by the Top 10 producers in LA, New York, London and elsewhere. Which is great!

In the past few months we have put a lot of thoughts about the future of Plugin Alliance. How can we keep things exciting for you - and sustainable for everybody involved professionally. What kind of tools, toys and services would you be interested in going forward, and how can we make those new shiny things available to as many fans and friends around the globe. From the FOH console of a MUSE show in a soccer stadium (see my post in our Facebook Plugin Alliance Audiophiles Group from today) straight into your own studio or rehearsal room.

The NEW Plugin Alliance
So what's new then? Well, the most obvious thing you can see at plugin-alliance.com right now is that we have NEW, lower prices for many established plugins. Not as part of a short time promo, but permanently. These new prices combined with our ongoing Dynamic Discounts will enable you to relax a bit and get a lot of the plugins you really want at great pricing anytime, not just during 24H flash sales.

Of course we'll keep on sending loyal customers monthly vouchers, which should further help you to stock up on amazing plugins used in the biggest studios and on the biggest stages.

Then, we have a whole wave of - wait for it - NEW and fantastic releases coming! The first announcements will start in just a few days, please stay tuned. This will be the biggest launch campaign we have ever had, and there will be more than a dozen new plugins from both, our existing partners, and from several NEW Alliance partners in July and August. We're talking about some of the biggest names in pro-audio, including some completely new plugins, and some existing titles that have never before been available for native multi-platform systems...

A hint for our PickPack customers as well: We'll have some really awesome NEWS for you this week. More on that very soon.

Also, we're constantly working on improving our system and adding new services for you, so expect a NEW version of our Installation Manager and other technologies very soon.

Finally, we're working towards a NEW web site right now which will make it easier than ever to use and get a hold of our plugins. Expect the first new features mid July.

Thank you for your attention everybody, and if you have questions you know you can talk directly to me in our Facebook group. Please understand that I am trying my best to answer as many posts and questions as possible, but since at this point it is literally hundreds of thousands of you and just one of me...

Best wishes, happy mixing, and have a great week.
We'll be in touch again shortly!

Dirk & the PA Team
I just went to the site. What a let down. The excitement level he built up with lower prices thing took the air out of my sails on that one. I hope he's not going to start laying on the Guitar Fetish site style of marketing.

I almost bet that's what he means by "some existing titles that have never before been available for native multi-platform systems"

Brainworx has several plugins that have only been available on the UA platform.
I would suggest to anyone to try the Ampeg Bass amps if the ever offer the UAD only version for non-UAD platforms. (assuming one is into their sounds, of course.) The B15N is very nice for me.

Holy Heck!!!

Just looked at the PIA website and WOW!!! Is that their ”normal” prices ???

On average on par with UAD-2 pricing ..

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products.html

Who pays these prices for plugins today? I mean $249-349 and a few half bad ones for $149 plus 30-ish % taxes put ontop for European buyers which is insanity ... no wonder we stopped buying plugins a few years back and have got more awesome hardware

And what are we supposed to do with that $25 voucher when the plugins are the highest priced out there?? Wasn’t Dirk talking about the ”new” PIA and awesone prices ... agree they are awesome for the wrong reasons ... Thanks but no way!

Not all of their prices dropped - some stayed the same like the channel strips, a couple of comps and the two synths. Here's a list of prices that have dropped compiled by user waltercruz over on Gearslutz:
Product - old price - new price

bx_xl - 329 - 299
UA Zip - 149 - 99
UA SpecOPS - 149 - 99
Indent 2 - 49 - 29
Dent 2 - 99 - 49
SPL Mo Verb Plus - 79 - 49
DrumXchanger - 199 - 99
De-Verb Plus - 79 - 49
SPL De-Esser - 199 - 149
bx_stereomaker - 129 - 99
bx_boom - 75 - 49
Channel X - 199 - 149
TCL-2 - 299 - 199
bx_limiter - 160 - 149
Alpha Compressor - 299 - 249
254 E - 249 - 149
354 E - 199 - 149
7X-500 - 99 - 29
Attacker plus - 99 - 49
iron - 329 - 299
g8 - 69 - 49
bx_cleansweep pro - 149 - 99
bx_dyneq - 299 - 249
bx_panEQ - 299 - 249
musEQ - 249 - 149
TE-100 - 199 - 149
Chop Shop - 139 - 99
EQ 2 - 149 - 99
NSEQ-2 - 299 - 249
EQ Ranger Plus - 199 - 149
Passeq - 249 - 199
Instant Delay - 49 - 29
Sandman - 49 - 29
Sandman Pro - 99 - 49
bx_rockrack V3 - 199 - 149
GAV19T - 149 - 99
ENGL E646 VS - 149 - 99
E765 RT - 149 - 99
fielder stage - 199 - 149
elysia Karacter - 199 - 149
6X-500 - 99 - 29
Vitalizer MK-2 - 249 - 199
bx_control - 139 - 99

An interesting thing is the three modules in the Lindell Channel X have dropped to $29 each. At three modules that are in the Channel X the ala carte price comes out to $87. Why spend the extra $62?

In post 3715 of the same thread here: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/musi...iance-124.html user rocketdirk posted a picture from the PA Fakebook group of a collection of PA's stuff in a sort of rack type graphic. If you look very carefully you'll see what a lot of us are saying is a Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor. That would be great as my voucher level bumped up from $50 to $75. Combine that with a heavy hitter discount for the Shadow Hills - I'd be on that like stink on cheese.

Thanks for the detailed info Jack. Still the nice stuff is still way too pricey for what other developers charge but as we have 90% of the PIA stuff there is nothing on the list that tickles my fancy.

Ww will stick to buying hardware. Just got the Looptrotter Sa2rate-2 from Poland and it is a SERIOUSLY GREAT UNIT!!! We have the SSL Fusion and Silver Bullet which cost more than 3 times the Sa2rate-2 but this new updated version is amazing and no plugins comes even close to what these hardware boxes do.

It is on their website now:

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/p...ompressor.html

Don't see a buy button yet. Like the Focusrite Console, maybe just a demo for now.

I saw the email on the bass amps come through.

Wern't you the one who had some bass rigs set up in 11R and shared via you site? I wonder how these compare. I could fire up the 11R. Been a while. The UAD/PIA Ampeg amps and Scuffham for guitar has rendered my 11R, GT-100 and Ampeg PF-500 units into paper-weights.

I just got an interesting email. For those who bought pick-a-packers, um, I've never seen a promo do what this one just did. The only thing i can offer is to say congrats. I'll not spoil the email for you by divulging the copy i just read.

It does make me curious to see what the 15th has in store.
