No Waveform Draw

After upgrading to OS9.04/Pro Tools 5.1 I no longer have the ability to use the waveform draw tool. Is this a bug in 5.1? Is it fixed in 5.1.1? Should I be afraid of 5.1.1? I have read so many problems with it.
