Default 192 I/O Interfacing S/PDIF to AES card-SRC not working

I've got a TC Electronics M350 collecting dust and want to use it through the digital i/f so I can keep my 8 analog I/O's. The M350 only has s/pdif and will only do 44.1k and 48k. I've verified it works with the enclosure spdif and AES ports, but only at 44.1 and 48k. I do a lot of work at 96k, so I thought I could use the SRC in the AES card. I built these cables, substituting the XLR pin outs for the 25 pin dsub:

AES to spdif cable

spdif to AES cable

I then set up my hardware and busses to use it as an insert and set it up to use SRC. It works in the AES connector, but only at 44.1k and 48k. When I switch to 96k the DI indicator on the M350 blinks indicating the digital input signal is corrupt, probably because the SRC isn't converting.

I've looked at the spec for IEC-958 and TC electronics says the M350 processes all 24 bits, so it should work, and it does, but only up to 48k.

Am I misinterpreting what the SRC is supposed to do?
Has anyone done this? Any ideas?

SRC only works on the inputs. If you have a 96k session then your interface is outputting 96k signal which the TC does not understand.

...and there it is in the 192 I/O guide. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
well, the M350 would make a nice paperweight, except for the sharp edges...
