This post seems to be close to a problem I had the other day.

I have two systems at the moment, one HD3 rig I purchased in 2007 running on a 2.66 Quad core and a randomly purchased set of HD3 cards that I have fitted into a new 12 core Mac.

Both run happily in their current state but the other day I decided to swap the cards I got in 2007 from the older Mac and put them into the 12 core.

The strange thing was that the 12 core didn't even power up with these cards in. I swapped the cards back and all was well again.

As this post brought up the subject of a component change on the HD cards, is this a possibility with my systems?

Thanks in advance for any light shedding.

I have had a bit of time at home now and have tried experimenting with my "older" HD3 Accel cards in the new 12 core machine and what I have found is that although I purchased the HD3 Accel at the same time, I have a Rev D core card as well as one each of the Rev D and Rev E Accel card.

If I put all three cards into the new Mac Pro, then the machine doesn't boot at all, no lights just a slight whirr of a fan but little else. If I put in the Rev D Core card and then one Accel card, either the Rev D or the Rev E, the machine boots and works fine.

All three cards work fine in my old quad core Mac Pro but when I tried them in another new-ish machine, a 2.26 8 core machine, I had the same problems with the 12 core i.e. not booting up.

Is this a possible known issue and does Digi do something to get the cards all compatible with the newere Mac Pro's?
