Weird Export Behaviour
I am cutting some "Best of" shows for a client and have been trying to import session data from one show to another.
The session I am importing data from uses a combination of wav files, as well as a couple of embedded OMF files (the biggest being 2.2 gig). The session folder shows up as being about 12 gig in total. When I try to import some audio tracks (copy audio option) into a new session I get an error saying that I need another 170 gig of free space to copy the session. The drive has 1.7TB of free space I tried doing a save session copy to see if that helped, and it kept crashing. I then decided to stem it out because I didn't need much mix flexibility. I did an offline bounce to save time but it seems some of my eq plugin automation is lagging by as much as a second on the stem. I guess I could try a realtime bounce, or route to a track but its a PITA. Has anyone seen this weird sort of behaviour before?

Re: Weird Export Behaviour
Out of curiosity, Are you on HDX or HDN? I've only seen this once before (the lagging automation). It was with RX Dialogue denoiser on our HDN system.

Re: Weird Export Behaviour
I copy the audio out of an embedded OMF. It usually just causes trouble down the line to have PT accessing the audio within the OMF.

Re: Weird Export Behaviour
I had a problem once with an audio files folder full of .omfs instead of .wavs.
900GB for a very simple 90min show!!! I couldn't seem to do anything with it. Couldn't change the media into anything else regardless of import settings. The guy had to send it to me again. Not sure how he fixed it. But a few of the .omfs lingered and they caused me trouble at the end of the project because they wouldn't relink when I moved to another drive. Bloody horrible. Beware is what i'm saying. |

Re: Weird Export Behaviour
I open the OMF and then do a "save copy in" of the session with all files and click 'convert to" either .Wav or AIFF (I use .Wav)'. Then I work on the newly converted session.

Re: Weird Export Behaviour
Yeah, I usually force to target session format, but I must have been on autopilot when I was doing this one and picked the wrong option.
I might try expanding out the OMFs and relinking individual files.
