Default US2400-should or shouldnt?Control-Can I do better?

It's sad there are no scribble strips but I can deal with using the old fashioned method of tape. I'm more interested in 24 faders in front of me, especially considering I use the C-24 at most studios I work at. This will be at home for a pre-studio-mix setup. The only down side I see aside from the lack of scribble strips is there is no way of manning the automation from the controller.

Any pros or cons considering I can get one for $600. I originally wanted 3 MotorMix2s till I saw the hugh price they carry. Why'd CM Labs prices go so high?

Thanks guys for your support!

They can be had anywhere for $699 now and I have a buddy who works at a dealer.

Anyone care to comment on it's ability or lack of?

That would be great, I haven't seen one up close so I'd be interested to know if it's flimsy of built well to last.

Anyone have any experience with the Mackie Universal with 2 fader pacs? Any new CS's coming out soon in the below 3k price range? That's my top price -3k.

Well, personally, I've experienced the US2400, and while I'll admit that the fader motors are a little smoother and quieter than a Mackie Control, and the unit is fairly well built... the scribble strip thing is a dealbreaker for me. The faders, for whatever reason, don't have the same resolution as the faders in the Control|24 or the Command|8. Apparently, they're going to come out with some sort of Meterbridge / Scribble Strip add-on for the US2400, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I've been renting a Command|8 for a while, and for my money, I'd rather have 8 faders that are solid, than 24 faders that suck.

Just another guy's $0.02

Cheers, eh?

I have one, and for the money (though I paid a lot more than $699 for mine) I think it's great. Yes it has no scribble strips, but a sharpie and some console tape and I'm good to go. It's got a small footprint too, so it doesn't eat up my whole studio and I can move it out of the way when I'm not using it. My $.02.

I'd rather have 8 good faders too as opposed to 24 not so good but I haven't heard many bad things about the Tascam to give a definite no to it. I'd still like to find a Pro-Control but will not say no to the 2400 for now. i don't mind taping the strip.

the Mackie Control is quite good. It plays well with all software, a lot of nice dedicated buttons. I would bet it's great with the extra faders. I use the C24 at the studio and Mackie Control at home. It works and feels very good. I don't know about the Tascam. The price is right, though.
