Default Re: P III, 800 mhz performance question....

PT 6.1 needs at least 384 Mb of Ram to run apparently... I found out today, as it wouldn't run on my PIII 800 w/256 Mb Ram and it gave me a message saying so. I am building an Allenstein machine next week (can't wait !!!), but your Davec figures for the PIII 800 are right on target, Allen (I got those results with PT 5.3.1).

Should be able to get around 16-18 Tracks on the Davec test right now with PTLE 5.1. With the upgrade to 6.1 and WinXP you will probably be at 10-13 tracks. So that is 50-60 simultaneous plugins which is more than enough for many people. I like those old P3s. Work horses with far fewer error issues than the new P4s.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Me too.. I'm using this P3 800 mhz with 384 ram, 98SE and PT 5.1 for almost 3 years now without any problems. 17 tracks on the davec test. Like Allen said even with PT 6.1 and 10-13 tracks you can still do great things.

You say you want to use the Digi 001 on your second system, makes me wonder what you use on your first.

Greets,
Pieter

Default P III, 800 mhz performance question....

Considering running a second system with a Digi 001 on a Pentium III, 800 mhz with 256 MB and two 7200 rpm Seagate 40 gig hard drives....

I currently have Windows 98se, but would like to run Windows XP...I assume this is the way to go..

what kind of performance can I expect with this setup also running Reason??
