Default Popped \"S\"\'s on narration/VO?!

Am I nuts? Lately I've been getting narration to edit and oftentimes when a sentence ends with a word ending in a "S", there is a pop near the end of the tail of the "S". I've never had this sort of thing as bad as it has been lately, and I'm wondering if there is something that can be done during the recording to cut this down. Everyone talks about stopping "P"'s, but what about this? I thought I was insane until one of the other editors mentioned it as well.

Try to move the mic or try another mic...

Is this something that has started happening suddenly with your favorite mic in the sameo place??

Extremely close mic'd narration often has pops on b,p,t,th,s,f,c,k, well, just about everything. It is the hand held microphone syndrome. Moving the mic away a couple of inches should help.

I'm not the one who's been recording this stuff. I'm just left to deal with it after. I'll see if I can get the recording engineer to move the mic a bit, maybe try a different pop filter. I was just wondering if anyone had any sort of innovative tricks for this.

If you have to deal with it, try using any Audiosuite EQ set to a HPF at anywhere from 80Hz to 300Hz and select just the SSSSS and process. I've used this on vocals for years and it always works a treat.
