Default Importing & Exporting AIF Files

I'm looking to import AIF files to edit (in PT Free) and then export them back as AIF while insuring that NO unnecessary conversion takes place in the process. The manual is a little confusing on that subject (Conversion quality settings etc.) How do I ensure that any audio imported and exported does not have to go through ANY conversion?

Any tips?

Thanks!

Default Re: Importing & Exporting AIF Files

-As long as your audio files are 16-bit, 44.1kHz (the only format supported by PT Free), then no conversion will be performed on the audio (however, PT Free will need to convert the file into SDII format via the "Convert and Import" Window).

-When creating contiguous audio files of your edits, I would suggest you using the "Duplicate" AudioSuite Plug-In or the Edit>Consolidate Selection function. Then, use a utility such as SoundApp to convert the SDII file(s) into AIFF format.

Doesn't PT Free (5.0.1) support 24-bit files? Not to record them via Apple Sound Manager but to import pre recorded AIF files?

Regarding SoundApp, Is this utility included with PT Free? If not where do I get it?

Thanks!

Yes, PT Free does in fact support 24-bit files...sorry for the ambiguous information in my previous post.

SoundApp is a separate utility which you may download here.
