HELP! 002 locks up!

i was just using my 002 listening back to a session, when all of a sudden it says it's "unable to communicate w/ Digi hardware, please reconnect" even though nothing had been unplugged..

i look at the 002 mixer and it says "Validating..." on it.

so i quit Pro Tools and i shut off the 002. waited a few seconds, then turned it back on.
Ever since then it doesn't even say "Standby" or any words even....just some half letters, weird dots thing. and i hear this steady faint clicking coming from the box, almost like a clock ticking.

has anyone encountered this? am i going to have to have it repaired?

You should get a hold of Digi Customer Service. It sounds like the (very common) Power Harness issue

i'm going out of town for a week..

is it something that can be fixed w/o sending it in?

I think you call them and they send you the harness to put in yourself. So I'd call asap so it'll be there when you get back. FWIW I haven't had to do this yet myself, but am aware I'll probably have to soon enough.
