When all the rumors were flying around that Apple had abandoned the Mac Pro a few years back, Tim Cook came out with a reassuring statement and a release roadmap for the new Mac Pro they delivered last year. Classy, responsive, and responsible, this.

Apple is 1000 times bigger than Avid. If they can do this, what kind of company philosophy is preventing Avid from talking about restoring a missing feature that's needed by such a large segment of its user base?

One based entirely on $$. Avid hasn't felt like a company-for-the-customers in over a decade. The Board of Dir. has a real taste for it now.

Cue the usual nonsense about being a publicly traded company that due to US regulations can’t forward announce features etc.

Yet many other big tech companies do it. Why is it only an issue for AVID?

I’m by no means an expert, but it doesn’t add up to me.

@meshzu
  • Logic -- Bounce to movie under Catalina
  • Studio One -- Bounce to movie under Catalina
  • Reaper -- Bounce to movie under Catalina
  • Cubase -- Bounce to movie under Catalina
  • Pro Tools -- the audio post/video specialist = Nope

When you put it like that, it's embarrassing isn't it? Over a year later and users still have to find their own workarounds.

Late to the party - I'm one of the lucky ones on Mojave - but this is literally unbelievable. So many AVID users have to use Catalina when they get a new Mac, and their jobs depend on using QT movie files with PT. They've had plenty of time. Why is this not a priority fix for AVID?

I heard a rumor today that Avid have a solution for this which will arrive before the end of this year. The individual I heard it from had to sign a NDC, so that's all he could tell me about it. But I consider him a credible source. Fingers crossed!

The thing that boggles my mind is that Avid has been the standard bearer for pro video/film editing for decades. I mean, the market's a little more dilute these days but it's at least half their business. There was no way to get a little cross-departmental collaboration to make this happen?

I'm running on a Windows 10 system, and I had the problem show up last night when trying to bounce out to Quicktime. The odd thing is, its the same video I already bounced out once before about a week ago with no issues.

I imported the original video last week, which was a MOV file. I added some new audio tracks to it, and bounced it back in Quicktime, no problem.

Now, with the exact SAME video file in the exact same session, I've added some new tracks, in the same session, go to bounce...no joy. How do I fix this. I NEED to bounce these out to Quicktime TODAY!
