Default More effective editing of Notes and Sustain on a Piano (MIDI) track

Sometimes when I review a recorded piano performance (MIDI), I know there's gonna be a lot of view-switching between notes and sustain. This tip is for us dinosaurs still using PT 7.4 and earlier.

I create a new MIDI track directly under the piano track, cut the sustain data from the piano track, and paste it onto the MIDI track. Select both tracks, and zoom toggle in (fit to window). Now I can edit notes and sustain fast and easy without switching back and forth like a maniac.

Obviously, you need to route the MIDI track to the piano VI. Happy editing.

Still on 7.4 3 years later! This is a sweet tip. Even though the bulk of my switching is between notes and velocity (I know they both sort of work in velocity view) there are times this will be a huge time saver. Can't believe I didn't know about it until now... thanks Stig, for posting this back in 2010!

Yeah, you're welcome. I still use 7.4.2 for most of my work.

Just re-read my comment...when I said "Still on 7.4 3 years later" I didn't mean you.. I meant me! One of these years I'll have to cave, I imagine.
