Default HD and Kontakt question - multi processor support

In the options panel inside Kotakt, under Engine, there is a catagory called "Multiprocessor support (RTAS - Plugin)"

When I look inside I have up to 8 cores as options. When choosing any of these options, it reads:

"Please note that enabling multi-processor support in both your host and Kontakt can lead to audio problems. Do you want to turn this on?"

So my question is, should I turn it on? And does Pro Tools HD have multi-processor support, and would they effect each other?

Question for system optimization.

Thanks,
D

Definitely do not enable it when using Pro Tools, as Pro Tools will handle the multi-processor and multi-threading needs directly.

As they said... disable it in Kontakt!!!! I didn't even know the checkbox existed... I just know that Kontakt didn't work for me at all at first. Once I found that checkbox to disable, Kontakt has been great again.

Good look!

DigiSupport-
What about the RAM Server? It says I need a minimum of 4 gigs of Ram to use that feature. Will this help me to enable? Is it worth it?
I have a total of 8 Gigs of Ram.

Thanks!

RAM server,Enable, works great. Then the Kontakt instruments will use RAM outside Pro Tools which is the perfect workaround for the 3.2 GB RAM limit on 32 bit applications ( as Pro Tools 8.1.1 ).

+1

I have 5GB of samples loaded in my template! The catch is, load times can get quite long. Hosting outside of PT in VE Pro or Bidule makes a LOT of sense if you have libraries you use on a regular basis.

Also, I think the 3.2 GB RAM limit in 32 bit applications is a theoretical limit. Both Logic and PT HD start crapping out on me at about 2.5GB.
