Default Re: 9073 errors

Hi,
I had a slightly different problem, but I'll
tell you what I did....
Mix +
G4 400
18 gig Cheetah
Upgraded to 5.1.1 a couple months ago, and last month, began to get 9073 errors.
It started on large sessions, and then moved to considerably smaller ones.
I had my Cheetah partitioned in half for house keeping purposes.
I had been initializing the audio drive with Apple Drive Setup (Erase disc under the Mac special Heading)
Digi instructed me to re-format the drive with the ATTO EPT (v2.3.2) utility, available on the 5.01 and 5.1 disks.
I eliminated the partitions, and reformatted, and it seems to have solved my problem...I'm 2 weeks into it , and everything seems to be more stable and faster.
Also, if your Cheetah is a Seagate XL drive, there are 9073 problems with that model.
Also, make sure your audio tracks are only running off one partition per session.
Or you will get the error.
I never had it happen before 5.1.1....
Hopefully it's fixed.
Good luck, and I hope I may have helped a little bit....It drove my nuts for about a month in the middle of some important sessions, with customers standing around......
Yeee!

Booker

Default 9073 errors

I have an 18g seagate cuda drive and a 18g cheetah drive. Beige G3 300 384mb ram OS 8.6 adaptec 29040scsi card mix core card Pro tools 5.0.1 882/20 IO.Drives are partitioned into 6 3 gig partitions each.Hardrives formatted with FWB 3.0.2.This rig is used for post production only. The problem I'm having is that the barracuda drive is solid I never get any errors from it.The cheetah on the other hand was running fine and then began to give me 9073 errors .I defraged and auto initialized the drive. It seem to solve the problem at first, then with hardly any data on 1 of the partitions I began to get 9073 error again. My question is .Should I get another barracuda ,is there a problem running one cuda and 1 cheetah even though the cheetah is faster.I inherited this rig with my gig and thats all the knowledge i can offer on it.Ineed to get rid of these errors or get another drive. Thanks for any help ken@metropro.com

thanks booker, except that atto told me not to use its drivers on 1 drive and fwb's on the other. My dillema is that I'd need to back up everything on the cudda to reformat using atto and don't have the downtime to do that.Might be my only option though
