Default Console instead of Mix window

If i got an Alto LIVE 2404 24-Channel 4-Bus Mixer, would i be able to use that INSTEAD of the mix window in protools and would it SAVE??? also, would i be able to get rid of my audio interface and just use this for recording?? it has USB connection. If i cannot do one of these things or both, WHY NOT?!

From what I can tell, https://www.altoproaudio.com/products/live-2404 , it won't do what you seem to want. It will only be able to stream two channels of digital audio back/forth at a time.

What you want is a "control surface" not a mixer(in the analog sense). The fact that the Alto has a USB port requires research, but it would be my guess that it only allows 2 channel communication(IOW, the main L&R outputs go to the computer/DAW and a stereo feed comes back to the mixer.

I recommend you consider a control surface, and some to look at are:
Artist Mix(you can combine up to 4 for 32 faders) $600-800 each, used
Avid S3 (a very nice 16 fader surface) $3500-4500, used
Digidesign/avid C24(24 faders, but a higher price tag) $4000-7000, used
Digidesign Command 8(old but very functional) $300-400 used
Presonus Faderport 8(brand new and looks great. Uses HUI protocol) $499

All the above will work alongside of your current interface
