Default 2 MIDI Input Tracks Output to Same MIDI Channel

I have two MIDI tracks set up as follows:

MIDI Track 1 ... INPUT: Guitar Synth Controller on all channels
OUTPUT: Sampler on Ch. 5

MIDI Track 2 ... INPUT: MIDI Foot Controller on all channels
OUTPUT: Sampler on Ch. 5

I want the Sampler to be able to receive messages from both the Guitar Synth Controller and MIDI Foot Controller during the same session. However, when I try to arm both MIDI tracks to make them active, I am only able to arm one MIDI track at a time.

Doesn't Pro Tools LE have the ability to route MIDI outputs from two MIDI hardware controllers simultaneously to the same MIDI channel?

Incidentally, my MIDI interface is a Digidesign MIDI I/O.
