Default Whats the Difference between Bounce to Disk Source -> Physical Output vs -> Output

Hey,

Whats the difference between the bounce to disk source as Output or Physical Output. This is new to PT9 i believe.

Is there any real difference if the output (titled Master) is mapped to the physical output in the I/O (titled Stereo Out) since they are both outputting the same signal?

Thoughts?

Thanks for asking this - the new behavior of PT9 (bounce to disk defaults to Bus 1-2) as well as the new bus / output routing is a bit of a pain. Also, is there a way to set the io setup to behave exactly as it did in PT8?

Can anyone explain the point of this new routing? (Not trying to hijack the thread - all of these questions are related.)

Best...H

I think PT9 has a small issue with the bounce source. On my rig, BTD selects the last stereo bus that was assigned(so it might be the drum compressor buss, or a reverb bus, I never know until I go to execute a bounce). This is despite having the main outs set in the IO setup tabs.

Same thing here. The first couple of times I couldn't figure out why my bounced files sounded wrong. Now I have to remind myself to check the source every time.

Physical Output - that's the "real" output, i.e. the output on the rear of your interface

Output - That's actually just a bus. You can route multiple outputs to the same physical output

recording to disk in the session your mix is best for me as you can use destructive record and to mini tweaks without having to do the whole tune in real time

a huge time saver IMNO

be sure to have the track on input so if you do punch in on a mic the verbs / dly or anything else is captured correctly
