Pro Tools doesn't play nice with Kontakt

Hi

I'm writing music for a TV show. I use Kontakt3 and it is opened permanently on one of my computer screens.

When I go to erase a clip or a note in Pro Tools, the note (or clip) stays there but my Kontakt Instrument gets zapped

I have to close and re-open Kontakt each time I have to do an edit. If I forget, I loose the instrument I am playing on. This is driving me mad.

I've worked with other DAWs and it is only in Pro Tools that this occures.

Is there a cure for this?

Don't tell me to buy structure, I already have it and it is not good enough.
Structure looks and sounds good, but it doesn't support Banks (which is the main reason I use Kontakt), and Stucture's Database system is.. well, not there yet.

What version of Pro Tools are you using? and which operating system?

You need Kontakt version 4 for PT8/9 on leopard and snow leopard
And they just released an update to version 4!

K3.5 is the least you would need. K3 was/is as disaster.

K4 is getting there and is actually doing a good job in PT !

Definitely use K4 with PT.

kontakt 3.5 works well

try to uncheck 'capture keyboard from host' in the kontakt options

Having reasonably good luck with Kontakt 4 and PT 8.1. It's actually been much less fussy than the Arturia stuff (love them, but not particularly reliable), and even other NI things (like Absynth).
