Default Convert Session's Audio Folder from SoundDesigner II

Okay, so I had a really weird scenario come up with a client today that I could not figure out.

A few months ago, a client brought in some really old Pro Tools sessions. The audio format of the session was in SoundDesiger II format. I copied the session folder to my hard drive and then opened the project. Pro Tools said that it would need to convert all the audio from SoundDesigner to WAV format. I said okay and Pro Tools did the task. We then worked on the project, saved it and the client left.

Today. The client comes in without his hard drive. I go to open the session and it can not locate any of those audio files (even though they all showed up in the audio folder). I tried linking and everything and Pro Tools ignored those audio files. The full path in the regions bin pointed Pro Tools to his external Hard Drive which we didn't have.

I later found out that the audio folder I had with the project has all of the audio files in SoundDesigner II format. Pro Tools ignored them because they were not in the WAV format.

Is there a way to convert the Session's Audio folder into WAV format from the SoundDesigner II format so that Pro Tools will reference those Audio files properly in the session? I tried just converting the Sound Designer files to WAV using Snapper and setting the same sample rate and bit depth and Pro Tools did not see it as the missing audio file.

Luckily the client still has his hard drive back home. But would there be any way to do this without having to bring back the old hard drive?

I think the unique identifier might be the issue, but there is a reconnect/relink option that searches based on file length. It may work, I have never tried. Good luck. ff

You can force the linking by just using the file name. Convert the files and make sure the new files have the same names as the ones Pro Tools is looking for. Open the session anew and go through the re-link manually and choose to match strictly by file name. Find links. Commit links. Hopefully it all works.

Thanks. I'll have to give these suggestions a try.
