Re: New Mac Pro
It'd be cool, but I know it's not going to happen, but how about a MacPro Mini that starts in the 3k range.....??? Same form factor with the same user upgradability, but with half the processing power.......

Re: New Mac Pro
J Freak I'm just hoping the prices on cheesegraters don't go up. I know of a few people waiting to see what the new mac pros were gonna be only to find out $6000 gets you the base model. I know that just steered me back to the 2012. Granted the thunderbolt ports would be nice to have on my desktop but my 2012 MacBook pro is still kicking along just nicely.

Re: New Mac Pro
I just thought of this, and we won't know until somebody buys one and tries it out, but with the massive performance boost just with the base 8 core, which is 4 times faster than the 12 Trash Can in Logic, can this eliminate the need for HDX Cards?
What would be faster; a current 12 core with 2 HDX cards (all in, using the 12 Core's CPU's plus HDX Processing) or the base 6k New Mac Pro (No HDX Cards)? When you price it like that, it's very reasonable "If there is at least comparable performance". I'm very curious..... |

Re: Apple Keynote going
Oh okay.. but you know just that Apple installer doesn't allow you to install doesn't mean you can't get it working it has always been the same, you just need to find the patched installer for unsupported hardware.. of course your mileage may vary

Re: New Mac Pro
Latest rack-mountable was G4 if you don't count the vertical rack kits for cheesegraters.. but if you do, the same kind of kits should be made available for these as well.. only a matter of time

All their current PCIe drives are proprietary. The good thing is there will be a booming market in folks packaging PCIe cards to carry M.2 drive cards. And companies might be able to reverse engineer the Apple SSD slots, but it’s likely not worth it with main PCIe slots available. |
