Default New LE interface to replace 001?

I work for a music store and recently we started running unusually low on Digi001's. When I talked to one of the main purchasing people, they hinted very strongly at the idea of something coming to replace it in the near future and that is why they have intentionally let them thin out. They said that they really couldnt say anything but that is the general feeling I got. Anybody got any info on what this might be?

I would think Digidesign must be putting a new 001 with Firewire out.

It only makes sense. But I really don't have any inside scoop.

May be that means the price will go down. Seems to have been rock solid at $799 for a long time... not that that's not a value. Just been amazed at how strictly that price has been maintained.
Carry on with the speculation.
I'd love a firewire 001. Sign me up.
How bout 4 nice pre's and we'll call it the 003.

This was prettys specific to a new piece coming out. I asked why we were running low on 001's and he said he really couldnt talk about it. I asked if there was something coming to replace it and he gave me a weird look. He said he couldnt say, but that if he was a betting man- wink wink. That sort of thing. It was implied pretty heavily that a new piece was coming soon.

I'm getting a 001 this week. Is that lousy timing or doesn't it really matter?

A Firewire 001, eh? I'll believe it (and probably buy it) when I see it. I bet the initial price tag will be pretty high, since 002 sales will drop by about 80% if it's competitive with a Motu 828 MkII. I also wonder if they'll be 30% more expensive in Canada like the orig 001 was, God knows why...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The initial price tag will probably be about $999. The reason it is more expensive in Canada is because of the weak value of your dollar. In order to make $799 in US Money is to charge about $999 Canadian.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Hello. Kirkland it's not exactly clear on your posts if the person you talked to is in any way related to Digidesign. As a matter of fact, it just sounds like it's an employee in a Guitar Center type of chain store. I don't see how that person could have any information that he couldn't disclose. Please let us know if it's a Digidesign employee. Otherwise the info is really not that useful.

For anyone interested check the simliarities in these 2 intertwined threads,

That person isnt related directly to Digidesign, that's true, but he is the main pro audio guy for all of Guitar Center. I wasnt trying to say that I had useful information, I was trying to find out more on what he alluded to. He made an indirect reference to a replacement for the 001 coming soon. If it was a long way off, I think that we would have seen more stock on 001's, but we have been out for a few weeks now with none on order. You'll notice that the topic of my thread ended with a "?" This denotes that I am curious and inquistive on this subject, not declaring that I had some insider news.
