Default -37 error when saving session copy

Hi everybody,

the other error I'm getting frequently when trying to save a session copy is the -37 error (again, Mac OSX 10.4.3 running Pro Tools 6.9.2 HD). What's really frustrating here is that it comes up halfway through the save. Is there any quick resolution to this problem? Thanks!!

You have multiple identical file names in multiple folders. ProTools tries to copy them all into one folder and returns a disk error when it tries to copy one file to that folder that is already there.

ProTools isn´t able to preserve your folder-structure when doing a "save copy in"

Try to hand-rename the duplicate files inside the session before doing this.

It sounds like something else is going on here. When there are two files of the same name, Pro Tools will append a ".1" to one of the copies in order to put then in the same folder.

I'll let someone from tech support chime in here....

I'll see about adding "Preserve folder structure" to the list....but as you know, it's a long list.

Danny, what happens here is from importing into various tracks you end up with FILE_A in folder A, and FILE_A in folder B. When you try to save a session copy of this it will not work properly. The .1 and .2, etc., only works if you import the same file into the same folder . . . it doesn't work with Save Session Copy In.

This scenario often happens in post, where you import some data from another session, import other audio with a third party device (such as SoundMiner), and import other audio perhaps using Import Audio. You invariably end up with identical files in various places. Consolidating this is not possible.

Unless this has been fixed in the latest CS release it has been a very problematic area with v7.
