Click II (workaround for AAE error -9173 in 12.5)
I submitted my case regarding the recurring -9173 error in 12.5.
Tech support suggested de-activating the Click II plugin and putting it in a hidden state after bouncing it to audio. This solved the problem on my system. I can now resume with my usual workflows in 12.5 as in 12.4. Sounds like a fix is forthcoming. update: http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/237404-3779 Last edited by take77; 06-11-2016 at 02:52 AM. |

Re: Click II Workaround for -9173 Error
They suggested de-activating the plugin and hiding the track? What's the point creating it in the first place then? Did they say anything about that?
Don't get me wrong; I'm happy that you've found a solution. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Click II Workaround for -9173 Error
Thanks. I see how that was worded and made a quick edit.
Click II was already present in the sessions affected (even though it was bypassed). The suggestion is to bounce the click to audio when needed. Then de-activate, hide (or remove). One can also MIDI drum files to keep time while recording + maintain tempo control. Last edited by take77; 06-11-2016 at 12:39 PM. |

Re: Click II Workaround for -9173 Error
Thanks for sharing that. I'll keep it in mind.
If there is a problem with Click II, I don't really understand why that is taking months to fix. After all, It's an Avid plug. No wonder we all have trouble with VI's if the click doesn't even work. Hope to see the fixes soon. Steve

Re: Click II Workaround for -9173 Error
Click 11 appears to have 3 main issues, 2 of which are already on IdeaScale:
(1) AAE error -9173 (2) Random CPU spikes Please add the 3rd issue - referenced here: “When click2 plug-in setting window open, program get slow” http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=379409 (3) Erratic time while the “visual Metronome” (blinking BPM light) is on. This issue evidently affects both Pro Tools 11 and Pro Tools 12. Click 11’s blinking BPM light: Press Click 11’s rectangular “ON” button (not the round button directly below it) to turn flashing light on. Press again to turn flashing light off. PS Getting by without Click 11: http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/...5+/241408-3779 Temp Workaround for Click II causes AAE error -9173 in Pro Tools 12.5+ Render the click using offline bounce and import after bounce deactivating the track. Another Workaround from Paul Maunder suggests via the Click/Countoff Options: http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2323979&postcount=11 “There's an easy way to use a drum sound as a click in Pro Tools. Just create an instrument track with Boom on it then go to Setup > Click/Countoff Options and change the Output setting from None to the instrument track with Boom you just created. The click will then sound from the Boom plug-in. Change the sound to suit.” If you want to use another VI (instead of Boom) - via the Click/Countoff Options: Use any active VI with a loaded loop (Channel 1) for your Click Track (Delete the original Click Track) http://duc.avid.com/attachment.php?a...4&d=1451474625 Thanks in advance to Jeffro, who’s currently the odds-on favorite at the upcoming International Customer Service Award of the Decade. Hope your prize is way better than this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...ought-one.html

Re: Click II Workaround for -9173 Error
I haven’t yet installed my Pro Tools 12 – so, can you possibly test this yourself?
(With Click 11’s BPM flashing light on) record an Instrument or Audio Track. The issue is different from “Click II plug-in no longer causes UI freezes when open” – this refers to the resulting timing in Pro Tools being “all over the shop” when the flashing BPM light is on whilst recording. http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2345922&postcount=1 Wondering if this issue has also been fixed in 12.5.1? Thanks again.
