Default Pro Tools 11 and Mackie HUI

First post on here, apologies if it's in the wrong section. Going through older inventory here at the studio, and stumbled on to an old Mackie HUI (Firmware version 1.45). I know that HUI protocol is supported (not tested) in PT 11, but is anyone actually using the original hardware? We have a ProControl and Fader Pack (which of course doesn't work in 11), but figured we might use this for the mobile rig if it actually works. If you're actually using a HUI with PT 11, what settings did you have to change? Was there a need for additional driver d/l? Or updating beyond 1.45? (information on the subject wasn't easy to find...the manual references OMS...). I had partial success, but it kept dropping communication with the HUI. Anyway, thanks for any help!

I'm using HUI protocol on a ProjectMix I/O with PT11 under Yosemite, experiencing no problems, but that's all I can tell you.

Same, PMIO with Pro Tools 11, no issues.

I use an original Mackie HUI. No problems with PT11 as it supports the HUI protocol. The great thing about the HUI is that it was built for Pro Tools and includes lots of the short cuts as physical buttons. No drivers are needed. Just connect your midi I/O and make the HUI selection and midi selections in the peripherals menu. Firmware version 1.45 is the correct one.

Default Mackie HUI not working with pro tools properly

I have just acquired this Mackie Human User Interface and I am trying to use it to run my Grace M101 preamp through. I am unable to get either mic channel to work at all, directly in to the Mackie, or through my Grace. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you kindly,

Austin

TO ADD DETAIL I AM USING THE MACKIE HUI WITH A GRACE 101 PRE AND A RHODE NTA-1 MIC

I AM RUNNING PRO TOOLS 12 OFF OF A MAC BOOK PRO RETINA FROM 2013
Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1077)

My main issue is that I cannot figure out how to patch the grace into the Mackie. My computer is using the built in microphone.

The HUI is not an audio interface, it is just a comprehensive midi control surface that also provides built in mic pres for added functionality. You still have to connect the audio outputs on the HUI to Pro Tools via an interface.

You may find these useful.
The Mackie HUI manual http://www.mackie.com/pdf/hui_om.pdf
and the Pro Tools guide chapter 3 http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor...uide_25939.pdf
I know this is for an earlier version of PT, but the instructions apply to PT 11 as well.

I suspect that the Grace Pre is much better than the Mackie one. Remember the HUI is technology from the middle 1990s.

Having just looked at the Grace 101, it is definitely much better than the Mackie ones. So, just to clarify, use the Grace 101, and connect it to your computer using an audio interface. The HUI does not pass audio to your computer, only midi.
