Random hard freeze

This is definitely a long shot, but just in case someone else has run into the same problem and discovered a solution I decided to post.

Once or twice a week I'm getting hard freezes that feel totally random...sometimes while just editing basic sessions, other times when doing more complicated VI stuff. I can't find a rhyme or reason to it.
System locks and becomes totally unresponsive. No error messages.

Much love to anyone who has any clues or hints
