Getting AAE error -9178? Here's what worked for me.
Go to your plug-ins folder and delete WaveShell-AAX 9.3.aax.
Apparently it's a remnant from a previous installation. Waveshell 9.3 wasn't present in my VST directory, and everything worked fine in reaper. I checked to make sure PT loaded all my Waves stuff after I removed it from Avid's plug-in directory. Extra info: Just tonight I upgraded from PT12.5.1 to PT12.6.1. On Windows 8.1 64 bit, not sure if this fix works for Mac or not. I was getting the AAE -9178 error during the PT splash screen, when it was loading waveshells. I removed all three waveshells (9.3, 9.6, 9.7) and PT loaded fine. So I put the waveshells back one at a time to find the problem. Turns out 9.3 was the problem. 9.6 appears to be StudioRack only, all my other plug-ins worked fine once I put 9.7 back. Edit: And for any Windows users of Revoice Pro out there, if you're having issues getting the link plugin to show up in your AudioSuite menu, check to make sure the installer didn't put it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio instead of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins. That was my issue.
