Default Getting 002r!! any advice?...

hey all, well this is the week i finally get to pay off the layby to my 002r and im looking forward to getting it in my house and for me to just start recording.

I am kinda new but kinda not with protools, i did a course which involved protools but it was a 001 system with ver5x(cnt remember which one) and of course continued my course with another school and there using 6.7 but havent really kicked fully into it yet.

i have been looking around on the DUC and my guess is i know what most of you's are talking about and can understand because my knowledge of computers and some of Protools.

Anyways my post is mainly for speople to give me advice on what to do once i open the box instead of just tearing it open plugging it up and installing everyhting(thats where things go wrong..you always seem to miss a step doing this).

Im running a P4 3.0 Gig
1.24Gig RAM, 60gig ATA system drive, 80GIG SATA audio drive, 120GIG SATA 2nd audio drive. with windowsXP PRo Service Pack1.

im expecting the 002r to come with 6.7 considering its new. i also got the factory bundle incase anyone wanted to know. i have downloaded the 6.7cs8 and the EQIII free plugin.

Can anyone just give me some tips or advice or even BIG no,no's wen installing and connecting the digi hardware for the first time. Thanks...sorry if this has been already asked somewhere else.

Make sure that you use a Digi approved firewire card, because the 002R is very
picky about that.

Hopefully your computer's mobo is compatible also. Take a look at
this!

I hope you have smooth sailing.

nothing too technical, but i just got the 002R in early march & this is just something i did to get myself familar with PTLE--i make electronica (i came from a Neundo/SoundBlaster based platform)--so what i did was record-in older full tracks of mine into the 002R--just a Cd player in--using all the available inputs (from analog to digital) on different takes--using the audiosuite and RTAS, moving tracks around (slip &grid), ETC--kinda like a mega-mix--i feel it gave me hands-on experience without sweatin the details of trying a brand new track--it also let me get comfortable with working with PTLE in my home studio enviroment--

also--do a search for the "Dave C" thread on this site---kinda a test for youre CPUsage/Track count

ok well had a look and all it says is

Chipset Requirements
The following chipsets are recommended for best performance with Intel P4 processors:

Intel 850/850e
Intel 845/845e/845pe
Intel 865pe/875p

im guessing mobos?

well my mobo is this:
Gigabyte:
Model; GA-8IPE1000 PRO2
Intel 865PE/ICH5/ATX/P4 Socket478/AGP 8X/ FSB800/4 DDR400 DUAL CHA ECT....
