Do you have Session and ProTools on the same drive? Try to use a usb3 external SSD for the session and another one for possible video!? But it could very well be that 8GB of ram is too low... (how is the disc cache setup?)

For the session, I have it on a partition of another SSD internal drive, not the same drive pro tools is installed on. I also installed 16GB of RAM yesterday prior to running any session. I have disk cache set to "normal". I have played around with the disk cache settings but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Is “Trim on” for the ssd?
System info-storage or sata tab will tell you.

Also, i tried running a session with "pro-tools aggregate I/O" for HW settings. Everything ran just fine and barely even used any resources. Guess that means the 002 is causing issues.

-2012 Macbook Pro 15", 1TB SSD, 8GB RAM, 2.6GHz i7, OSX 10.13.3
-Pro Tools 12.5.1
-Digi002 Rack
-Presonus Digimax LT

Yes, i know the HW is old. I bought it some time ago and have had some good use out of it. Used to be setup with an older PowerMac G5. Anyway, i'm looking for advice on the best route to go with all this equipment i have. I would rather not invest a ton more money into this as it's only used as a hobby at this point. Should I get another SSD and load another OS on it and use it solely for Pro Tools? I've been out of the pro-tools loop for some time and looking for any advice on what to do? Thanks!

Not sure on your MacBook, (i.e if you can unscrew the bottom of it), but I have an early 2011 MacBook I have updated to 16 GB of RAM when it was supposedly not able to be with RAM from OWC AKA MacSales. They have great videos online and can also online tell you based on your mac which memory to buy etc. The other thing I would do is get a SSD HD installed, which I did myself which was super easy to do. They have videos for that also. This made my 2011 MacBook run so much faster now I use it on everything here with Sierra and have even run High Sierra on this old MacBook Pro 17". I use this for travel work in LA and just fires up and runs session perfectly! The other stuff is just upgrade your PT.. It's probably worth the investment. I run a Native HD system in my studio now after years of running an HD system. I have a MacPro Cylinder in there. Never a problem-:) That's my 2 cents. G

Hey Guys-

I was wondering if any of you with a 002 Rack, running on the latest PT version have noticed that the Hardware setup menu is not accessible. I made the jump from my old G5 to intel and was able to get the 003 driver to work with my 002. Today I tried to hook up a light pipe unit and noticed the Hardware Setup menu does not launch. My guess is that it is a driver compatibility issue because when I turn off the 002 Rack and launch PT it is accessible.

I tried it on my 2011 Macbook and 2009 iMac both on High Sierra. Same result.

Have any of you guys noticed the same thing?

YES! Same thing on my system, i have been wondering about this issue myself. I am able to use the AUDIOMIDI settings in Mac OS to configure the 002 tho. I basically have made the same upgrade as you, used to have a G5 now i have a 2012 MacBook pro. I agree, it's probably a driver issue, however the workaround is to use the audio midi settings.
