Default SCSI card for G4?>>>

HI all,

I have searched through all the posts for G4 Macs and SCSI cards, but cannot find a definitive answer to thie following question.....

'What is the most recommended card for a 001 LE outfit?'

(I have just puchased a G4 dual 450MHz, with 256 RAM, running OS 9.)

Are the USB/SCSI adapters or Firewire/SCSI adapters any good?

Thanks in advance!

andrew

The Adaptec 2906 narrow SCSI card is Digi approved for PT LE .I bought that one for $59.00 .It works great. I use it for the SCSI CD burner, I record to internal IDE Maxtor Diamond Max.I have not seen any conflicts.
Regards
Mike

Don't use usb to scuzzi .it will freeze.
use the Adaptac 2906 or the 2930 scuzzi pci card

I thought the ATTO card was the only one approved by Digi.

I've been using an Adaptec 2930 for a yamaha 8424s scsi cd burner & an internal scsi zip for about a year on my sawtooth G4 with not even a trace of problems. Some people prefer Atto over Adaptec but I personally have never had a problem with my 2930 or my 3940 on my tdm system. I also have a friend with an adaptec 2906 who is also troublefree.

Adaptec 2906 here, hooked up to a Que CD RW that I originally bought for a Roland VS 1680. Never a freeze. PTLE, Digi001, Toast, Jam & Peak. Solid as a rock.

I have the Formac UW ProRaid I SCSI card (single channel) in my AGP G4. It was cheap (compared to other UW cards) and I haven't had a single problem with it. I have two UW drives internally connected to it for Pro Tools. Works great. www.formac.com

The Adaptec 2906 is not designed for storage. Check it out on Adaptec's website. For a single channel card, go with the ATTO EPCI-PSC-000. Currently, it lists for $179. It is the single channel version of the qualified DC card.

ATTO OEMs their cards to Apple for SCSI storage use, and are required to have the most up to date firmware. Got Apple? Get ATTO.
