i7 and Windows 7 blue screen of death
I think I originally posted this in the wrong section---my apologies for the repost.
I've been checking out the posts on i7 and Windows 7 Pro Tools compatability (stalking you guys in the background), but finally decided I needed to contribute---actually, to speak up and ask for help! I've been through the blue screen of death when Pro Tools tries to load (in May), the "clock" problem and lack of playback after finally getting Pro Tools to load (in June), and now (in July of course) I finally have gotten it to run once or twice but I still get the blue screen of death most of the time when Pro Tools tries to load. Seems to be doing it toward the end of the loading procedure, and sometimes even after it appears to have loaded. Could you guys check over my Sandra list and let me know if you see a blatant incompatibility problem? Any advice would be appreciated--thanks SiSoftware Sandra Computer Model : BIOSTAR Group TPower I55 Workgroup : WORKGROUP Host Name : ProToolsPC User : Chris Processor Model : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz Speed : 2.8GHz Cores per Processor : 4 Unit(s) Threads per Core : 2 Unit(s) Type : Quad-Core Integrated Data Cache : 4x 32kB, Synchronous, Write-Thru, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing L2 On-board Cache : 4x 256kB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing L3 On-board Cache : 8MB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 16-way, Exclusive, 64 byte line size, 8 threads sharing Computer Mainboard : BIOSTAR Group TPower I55 BIOS : AMI 080015 09/05/2009 Bus(es) : ISA X-Bus PCI PCIe IMB USB FireWire/1394 i2c/SMBus Multi-Processor (MP) Support : No Multi-Processor Advanced PIC (APIC) : Yes Total Memory : 4GB DIMM DDR3 Chipset Model : Biostar Microtech Clarksfield/Lynnfield DMI Front Side Bus Speed : 2x 2.4GHz (4.79GHz) Chipset Model : Intel Core Desktop (Lynnfield) UnCore Front Side Bus Speed : 2x 2.4GHz (4.79GHz) Total Memory : 4GB DIMM DDR3 Memory Bus Speed : 2x 798MHz (1.6GHz) Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Kingston 9905403-111A00LF 2GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : Kingston 9905403-111A00LF 2GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Video System Video Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 4350 (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1) (SM4.1 600MHz, 512MB DDR3 2x400MHz, PCIe 2.00 x16) Graphics Processor Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 4350 (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1) () Storage Devices WDC WD3200AAKS-00V1A0 (320GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, NCQ, 16MB Cache) : 298GB (C:) (E:) Hitachi HDT721064SLA360 (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, NCQ, 15MB Cache) : 596GB (F:) HP DVD Writer 1270d (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : 585MB (D:) Logical Storage Devices System Reserved : 100MB (NTFS) Hard Disk (F:) : 596GB (NTFS) @ Hitachi HDT721064SLA360 (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, NCQ, 15MB Cache) Hard Disk (C:) : 146GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD3200AAKS-00V1A0 (320GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, NCQ, 16MB Cache) Partition (E:) : 152GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD3200AAKS-00V1A0 (320GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, NCQ, 16MB Cache) ULEAD (D:) : 585MB (CDFS) @ HP DVD Writer 1270d (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : Biostar Microtech P55 LPC Interface Controller LPC Legacy Controller 1 : ITE IT8720F Audio Device : Biostar Microtech P55/PM55/3400 High Definition Audio Audio Device : ATI (AMD) RV730XT Audio device [Radeon HD 4670] Audio Codec : ATI (AMD) AA01h Disk Controller : Biostar Microtech P55/PM55/3400 4 port SATA IDE Controller Disk Controller : Biostar Microtech P55/PM55/3400 2 port SATA IDE Controller Disk Controller : Jmicron JMB36X PCIE-to-SATAII/IDE RAID Controller USB Controller 1 : Biostar Microtech P55/PM55/3400 USB2 Enhanced Host Controller USB Controller 2 : Biostar Microtech P55/PM55/3400 USB2 Enhanced Host Controller FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : 3812 TSB82AA2 IEEE-1394b Link Layer Controller SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : Intel 801xx/63xx SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Network Services Network Adapter : Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) Network Adapter : Intel(R) 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection (Ethernet, 100Mbps) Power Management Mains (AC) Line Status : On-Line Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.01.7600 Platform Compliance : x64 Windows Experience Index Current System : 3.7 |

Re: i7 and Windows 7 blue screen of death
Which numeric version of Pro Tools? (please be as specific as possible, including the cs number)
Which Pro Tools hardware? (003? MBox?) Which drivers are you using? Quote:
Do you have the latest PACE drivers? Can you post a plugins list please? (using the Tech Support Utility, if possible)

Re: i7 and Windows 7 blue screen of death
And have you updated Pace Interlok drivers(out of date drivers can cause BSOD).

Re: i7 and Windows 7 blue screen of death
When I first initially installed the win7 audio drivers I also received the blue screen of death followed by a swift crash and a reboot.
First follow the directions perfectly. http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=350927 And when installing it make sure your network adapter is disabled as well as sound card. After installing it I turned back on my network adapter and sound card, and it works fine. But during installation, I follow all of these rules... http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=349411

Re: i7 and Windows 7 blue screen of death
Protools 8.0.3 Beta with "64 bit" audio drivers
Digi 002 Black Lion mod Waves Mercury and stock Protools plugins I'll try a fresh install and disable the network card and sound card---it seemed to have helped you, so I'll give it a shot. thanks for any direction you guys have---anyone else got ideas to try? compatibility issues? chris |

Re: i7 and Windows 7 blue screen of death
Since you're going for a fresh install. remove the Waves bundle and work on getting Pro Tools solid as a rock. Once that is accomplished, save an image of the system drive and then install Waves. Which version of Waves are you installing? If its the latest, then it SHOULD be okay, but any earlier version might be causing trouble.

Re: i7 and Windows 7 blue screen of death
Man--I think that new ProTools 8.0.4 fixed everything! It booted up without a problem, worked great for 30 minutes or so, closed the session okay. CPU was fantastic the whole time. Keeping my fingers crossed...wait a minute, I'm not superstitious. This has been a long road for a bunch of us
thanks again |
