Default The Definitive What Makes a Good Recording Thread

All the things that really add to a good sounding record.
Empirically, its all in the tracking, right?

I've found that the key is in delays, verbs, and compression.
delays on vocals and guitars...fills up all the tiny spaces.

Whats everyone elses real key?

How bout people who can play well in a studio setting. Most people get really timid in a studio setting. If you have good stuff going to tape then it will only help you in the mixing process.

Emotion.
Record it on a casette deck if you like, but if it ain't there you're wasting your time.

they are completly correct, i have some older recordings that i think sound (sonicaly)
really bad compared to my newer ones but they are more enjoyable to listen to
because of the energy the band put into the songs

If good equals successful and profitable, I would have to say

having someone very sexually appealing on the cover is definitely

the most important thing.

Being between 17 and 27 years old is helpful also.
