Default Why is PT 6.4.1 so unstable on OS 10.3.8..Help!.

Could anyone on this forum provide some insight as to why PT 6.4.1 Mix Plus TDM with OS 10.3.8 is so unstable, and if there is anything I should look for.
I get neo-classic warnings, crashes, lock-ups etc, and in all the years, over 13 to be exact, Ive never had such a lousy experience with a PT program.
I needed a second suite for editting, and had 5.2.2 with OS 9.2 running and wanted to at least get 6.0. on this rig, so I upgraded to OS 10,3 to use 6.4..What a mess!

Apple G4 with 2.0 NewerTechnology 2.0 Processor single
L2 Cache (per cpu)
Bus Speed 133 MHZ
Boot Rom Version 4.3.3f2
1.25 GB SDRAM
OS 10.3.8

Any help would be greatly appreciate

start w/ the trouble shooting thread up in the stickys

the Processor upgrade might be in play

I found 6.2.3/10.3.8 to be stable but, that was me

RAM might be an issue, PT under OSX is pick about RAM quality

This could be your problem. In the days of yore, I had a 9600 with a G4 upgrade, and the software that enabled AltiVec for the G4 upgrade had to be disabled. If I didn't disable it, Pro Tools wouldn't perform properly.

We had v6.4.1cs4 systems for nearly two years without any serious issues. Put the stock processor back on the logic board and see if things become more stable.

Thanks for the info so far, it's appreciated.
I had just received the Newer Technologies 2.0 and install it last week. Previousluy I was running a 1.8 Sonnet I had that would not let me put OS 10.3 on it, and would only run on 10.2.
While I was waiting for the replacement,I had the original processor in the G4 and had the same unstable issues, only also slow as all heck!
Will 10.3.9 run well with PT 6.4.1?, I only ever saw them mention 10.3.8 as the top.
Thanks

Thanks a bunch for the help, I'll give it a try, since I never saw it suggested on the Digisite.
Any idea of the best Ram I should be using?
