Replacing stock 9600/350 (upgraded G3/400) video card
I'm currently working on a 9600/350 upgraded with the Newertech 400 G3 card. Here's the list of what 's in the PCI slots:
1 Mix Core 2 Mix Farm 3 empty 4 empty 5 Adaptec 2940UW 6 Apple stock video card Although the G3 upgrade improved things a lot in terms of speed using PT5.0 (and seemingly made the system more stable) I feel that replacing the stock video card might help the occasionally sluggish screen redraw. I only need one monitor (19" running at 1600x1200) and I'm after a speedier PCI video card that I could pop in instead of the original Apple one. I'm aware of the risk of incurring in a -6042 busy PCI bus, has anyone tried what I've got in mind to do? Any suggestion/feedback would be very appreciated. |
