Sync 002 to analog tape
Hi there,
I am looking for the cheapest way to sync my digi 002 to my old teac 80-8. I am not much into this kind of thing. can anyone help me with suggestions? thanks, jans |

First, are you actually looking to "sync" it? Or do you just want to dump some tracks off of it? Two totally separate things.
Second, If you are trying to sync it, why? (especially since you are "not much into this kind of thing"). Most times, it's to "get the tape warmth" but the 80-8 will be on the low end of that benefit-wise(IMHO), and these days there are much better ways (again, IMHO) to achieve the same results. Last, to sync old analog stuff like that, you will need dedicate one of the tracks on it to record SMPTE sync. That means the 8 tracks become 7 tracks, because one will need to be sync. That also means you will need a device to produce that SMPTE code as well as translate it back to PT to allow chase to occur. It's really not a process for the faint of heart or for those who are "not much into this kind of thing".
