Default Has anyone used the VST to RTAS wrapper?

Has anyone used the VST to RTAS wrapper? Is it out for sure, and not on pre-order status?

Thanks,
Drew

Yes it’s really out. The web site still says you need to preorder it but when you buy it you get an email with a link to download it. I got it today and have been using it. Seems to work pretty good, some plugs seem to work well and some behave oddly. Haven’t had long enough to really see how well it works. Looks like they have already released 1.1 for Mac to fix a few bugs.

I΄ve got the tool and installed it, but on converting vst dll's i only get the message "error on opening target file and source file" I copied the dll's in the vst2rtas\vstplugins directory. Does anybody know what's wrong?

You should place the VST plug-ins in C:\Program Files\fxpansion\VST2RTAS if you want them to be wrapped.

Which plug-in are you trying to wrap?

Yep. I'm using it and it works like a charm for some VSTs, for some others, though it works perfectly, the GUI seems to flash a lot when you move controls. One vst window wouldn't close (sorry but I cant remember which one - it was late!) which was a bit of a pain. All in all though, it's a revolutionary breakthrough. Affordable soft-synths in PTLE, YAY!

Hi Rail,

I installed it in the C:\Program Files\fxpansion\VST2RTAS\
I tried to convert freeverb, some NI (FM7, Pro52 ...)
It always says "Found VST Plugin: xxxxxx", "Creating RTAS Effect: xxxxxxx", "Error opening target file", "Error opening source file", "done"

What am I doing wrong?

Thanx Splashonline

Which version of Pro Tools do you have? Where do you have Pro Tools installed?

Hmm.. I wonder if it's the German language upsetting it..

It may be looking for:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins

which is where the English version of where the wrapped plug-ins are installed to.

Try creating this path.. build the VST wrapped plugs.. then move them to where your plugs are.

sorry it doesn't help, it's still the same problem.
What does the target file look like and where is it normally placed?
