Difference btwn 1 Year Subscription/1 Year Subscription Crossgrade

My Annual Update plan (for PT Standard Perpetual) expired this past September. I'm now presented with option(s) to "Move to a Subscription."

Option 1 is 1 Year Subscription, $29.99 Monthly. An alternative option is 1 Year Subscription Crossgrade, $9.99 monthly. With regards to the latter - I can (as stated by Avid) "Trade in my Perpetual license for a Subscription and SAVE 50% off standard price for the first 2 YEARS."

If I'm reading this correctly - I can opt to surrender Perpetual license, sign up for the Crossgrade Subscription, and pay 10 bucks a month for the next 2 years? Why is this so much less in cost compared to the $29.99 monthly option? Is it just the fact that I would be surrendering my long owned Perpetual license?

The Annual Subscription is $29.99/mo or $299/yr if you pay up front. The Crossgrade is $99/yr for the first 2 years, so you basically get $400 off by trading in your perpetual license when moving to subscription. The other option is to check with our resellers to see if they still have upgrades (Update Plan Reinstatement) which means you would keep your perpetual license and could renew the Update Plan while active to continue getting releases beyond a year.
