Default Import Session Data from Project

In keeping local session copies for safety:
It would be great if we could import session data from a project, rather than having to open a project, export just a few tracks as a new session, and then import from that session.

You can do that if you select "save a copy in" from your project, then just change the format to session and save it locally.

Yes, I am aware of that. What I'm suggesting is that if you've already done that and are working on that local copy, it would be great to simply import session data from whatever changes are made in the project from contributors into your local session without having to either do that again, and then import session data, or having to do what I explained in my original post (which would save on local HDD space).

I know this is an old thread, and you may have already figured it out, but I was looking for the same thing and found how to do it.

If you go to the "Open Project" Dashboard, click the downward arrow on whatever project you want to import from, and click "Open Revision History...", there's a button towards the bottom right that will allow you to import session data.
