The latest update was in december 2019.12 with catalina compatibility so we are just beeing funny here.

2019.12 works great here but some have issues with video which Avid has said would happen. That was a ”partial” Catalina release for mainly audio.

But: AFAIK Apple informed the software developers at the beginning of 2019 about the changes in Catalina. In my opinion it’s only a mediocre outcome to release an update in December without video. Am I wrong?

No I Agree with that statement. All I know is it has something to do with the shoft away from 32bit to 100% 64bit but we use ableton Live10Suite aswell ass PTUltimate and Live10 runs great on Catalina.

I'm a little confused - video does still work in 2019.12 though, doesn't it? It just has to be a format not reliant on old quicktime wrappers/containers (like .mov files). I am running 2019.12 but under 10.14.6, not Catalina so perhaps the results are different... but converting existing videos to .MXF files using DNxHD 36 or 120 codecs is working really smoothly here. Much smoother than anything .MP4 or H264 related.

I am kinda glad we are finally here!

Maybe someone can tell if and what types of video work with Catalina.
But video conversion is a real pain in the a... if you’re doing little recordings for commercials primarly.

Thanks. So most common video formats I’m delivered by clients are not supported. Sad and no integrated workflow to convert. That’s still a mediocre outcome imho...

Bad for you. Avid said it is a release for "most" and addressed the issues. If you do not belong to the "most" you will just need to wait or use some workaround.

Not a perfect world, but fits for "most".

Hmm, I don‘t need no Catalina as long as I don’t buy a new computer. But the definition of the term “most” in this matter seems arguable to me. I guess most people working for picture share my discontent.
