Default New Waves WLM Plus Loudness Meter

Waves has updated their loudness meter with new features, called WLM Plus. I have not watched the video, and don't know what new features were added. But I thought it might be of interest.

Note that any WLM owners covered by WUP will get this update free.

Peak limiter is the main one I've noticed. Though for me, having upgraded an HD3 to an HDX2, it just exacerbates the issue that Waves isn't AAX DSP

They've basically updated the feature set to be like the Dolby Media Meter 2. I avoid using DMM realtime because it adds latency even if it's not processing. I tend to put metering plugins on taps off of the main feed rather than across it for this reason.

The Waves L3LL has minimal latency native but the new Avid Pro Limiter is a good match, and is a true peak limiter.

I agree, but when you're not on a HDX rig it's a big CPU eater.
IMHO, it would be fine to have also a lighter version without the metering features.

I'm not on a HDX rig. It's taking next to no power. Seems very efficient. I have never managed to get the PT11HD usage any higher than 40%, even with a big 200+ voice project with lots of realtime processing.

CPU eater? I use Avid's ProLimiter on all of my setups and it runs without a big tax on CPU even on a i5 laptop. Built-in loudness meter, a very good true peak limiter and in the audiosuite version there's a offline loudness analyser too.

I upgraded to the WLM Plus (HD Native), and in addition to the added peak limiter, which I likely won't use, they also added a number of current and updated presets to what had been a pretty paltry list. Helpful in keeping up with the ever-changing standards. No noticeable change in CPU drain.

Big big plus one. I don't even understand the other offerings. Pro limiter is everything you need and sounds fantastic with very little CPU usage.

Here is what I get on a MacPro Nehlem octo core 2009 24Go Ram PTHD 10.3.8 MacOS X.8.5.

A rather light surround film session without ProLimiter:

The same session with only two 5.1 instances of Pro Limiter:

I don't call this very light CPU load.

Are saying only 2 instances of pro limiter takes you to 20ish% CPU usage? You need a faster computer! I probably run 15 instances of pro limiter along with 40 cedar DNS one, 5 5.1 revibe's along with 100 other plug ins and hit 30% CPU. Not sure why are are having such bad performance.

I was comparing pro limiter to the alternatives. Dolby media meter is a total dog, all the other tp limiters have much worse performance in my experience
