Default Dual Monitors Issue

Not sure where to post this - hopefully here. I have a 2nd monitor connected to my iMac. Standard procedure is to open a session with PT12 edit window on the left monitor and mix window on right monitor. All is well until I pull up the internet on Safari (or Chrome) usually to research some PT information (duc forum or youtube tutorial etc). I typically pull up YouTube on the "right" monitor. Issue is if I watch a YouTube vid for more than a minute or so and go back to my PT session (left monitor), the project does not allow me to "play"or 'record" etc. If I hit the play button for example - it blinks twice and then nothing. Odd
My fix is to go to Playback Engine and change buffer size up or down (ie: 512 to 256) and click OK. PT then functions as normal. Not a huge bummer but really jams up the flow. Any suggestions?

Are both monitors set to the same resolution?

If you have different screen sizes, or if your monitors have dissimilar specifications, it may cause a problem.

Thx for the response. Same screen sizes but the resolutions are different. iMac is 1920x1080 (which I like) and HP is 1680 by 1050. Thats about as close as I can get to matching both.

Not sure if it would "fix" your issue, but a 1920 x 1080 external monitor is not a whole bunch of scratch.

Indeed^^^ I got a 27" AOC at Best Buy for $169, or you could go with a 1080P LED TV(a 32" can usually be found on sale for well under $300).
