Default Best compressor for vocals???

I'm in the market for a great compressor to use before going into protools - I want somethings that will handle quick/loud transients ie when the vocalist starts a verse with a 'P' sound or something - I'd like to hear what people are using.. thx!

I agree with Everest - Distressor. Versatile, fast, and high quality. If you only have one compressor for vocals, this is it.

Every big mixer I've worked with in LA has said that if they could only have one compressor it would be the Distressor.

LA2A, then distressor.

Course, that's quite a price jump, but worth it.

How about the Fran Drescher (Nanny preset)? The compressor that makes your vocalist sound nasally.

Speaking of the distressorator, has anyone had alot of experience with the new Brit mods in it? I ve used them a few times on a fast pace session so I couldnt really do a good listenening test, besides that I liked how they sounded..

Anyone compare with using the mod and not using it? you likey or no?
