Default "Low latency monitoring" which interface?

Hi,
I own Mbox 2 pro which when enabled as my interface can use 'low latency monitoring'. However my friend has got the Apogee Ensamble and there is no such feature in PT9 when that interface is enabled What similar interface would you suggest which can use the feature? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, that feature is only available to certain Avid/Digidesign interfaces.

Have you tried lowing the buffer rate to 64 or 32 (if available). I haven't used LLM in years now... since none of the artists I record can tell the difference at 64 buffer.

OK, thank you. We'll try it. I don't know his machine's specs but probably it's capable of setting the 64.

Ask you friend if he's tried the Maestro software. You can jerry-rig an no-delay solution with that for the Ensemble. It just means you have to have another app running to monitor the Ensemble.

I had a kick ass machine and no matter what I could not get a stable result with less than 256 buffer with my ensemble.

The machine can handle it, the drivers and pt can not.

I made the switch to a Apogee symphony 32 pci-e card and rosetta 800. Luckily I have good pre's so the loss of the Ensemble pres didn't mean to much to me.

I have to say that now I can track all day at 64 with VI's running and a ton of plugs and it is STABLE. I Love apogee, but the Ensemble just didn't cut it. If he has the money and can sell the ensemble and doesn't need pre's. Tell him to do what I did... he will never miss it!!!

I record at 32 buffer with my AES16 and Aurora 16
(Mixing at 512 to get my UAD2 pluggins to work flawlessly)

Windows? Haven't heard of a Mac doing that with 3rd party.

Back to Ensemble. I would be interested if he can run at 128 or lower without pops and clicks.

Yeah, Macs to my knowledge do not go below 64 with 3rd party gear. Ensemble is a mac only device as well.
