Default Random Preferences Reset

Hallo,
I get random preferences reset on PT Ultimate 2018.4. I'm on OSX Sierra 10.12.6 (fresh install). Does anybody know how to solve the problem?
Thank you.
Fulvio

Any particular preference(s) that doesn't "stick"? Haven't had that issue here with 2018.3 on OS 10.12.3.

Hi,
I only change a few prefs from default e and it resets to default sometimes, all of them.

Here's a quick list:
Display>Organize Plugin Menu By: Category an Manufactor
Operation>Auto backup: Keep 20 most recent...
Operation>Auto backup: Backup every 1 minute
Operation>Record: Mute Record-Armed...
Editing>Fades>Crossfade:Equal Power
And some other.

It also resets Peripherals assignment.

I'm guessing corrupt preference file, but have no idea what would corrupt it. If it happens often, backup your preference file and once defaulted copy the pref file back to its original location.

This is what I’ve been doing. It is definitely corrupt pref files. I’ve noticed that the “Pro Tools Prefs” file permissions get changed to “no access” for any use incl admins. It’s super-frustrating but just one of a cornucopia of PT issues for me.

This just happened to me this morning on 2018.3. Just opened up PT and my preferences were reset. Not the first time I've had this happen....but it's frustrating every time. Changing the preferences back doesn't take that much time, but rebuilding my plugin favorites does. This is the only DAW I've ever had that happen in. It's been a while since it happened last. I will make a back up of my preferences this time.

On Mac, use Pete Gates' app, on Windows use guitardom's Trasher. Both can back up and restore Preferences.

I have it. It's my fault for not having a backup of it...that being said, PT is the only app I've ever had randomly reset it's preferences. Seems like it happens to me about once a year or so. It's not a new thing here.
