Default Bug With illegal Characters

When Importing Files into a session (Created with current Pro Tools Version) with file names containing underscore "_"
Protools is saying the character is illegal and must convert. It is saying there is a / when that is not the case.

The parent folder containing the files is called 32/48K. So that has a /
But the files don't. I don't remember that ever being an issue?

That’ll be it. I can’t remember a time when that hasn’t been an issue (but I’ve been on macs for 20 years, may not be the same for PCs)

Never owned a PC in my life. Been macs since G3's. So what does the parent folder have to do with the actual file that is being imported?

Tools doesn't like the pathname having illegal characters. I have no idea why, it's probably some old hangover from the 90s.

AFAIK Logic etc are fine with the "/" character. As with a lot of Tools anomalies, I put it down as a "shrug your shoulders and hopefully one day someone will sort it out" things. (See also: Elastic audio, MIDI ticks not working correctly, MIDI channels reverting to "no output" upon session load, etc etc)

Well good to know why it’s flagging the names. Thanks for pointing it out and I agree with the shrugs!

I have a friend who is running into that thing where he can't export files in PT 2018 if there are any wacky characters in the path name.
Strangely enough, it's not happening to me.
