Pro Tools does not work with 64 bit Win7. But it does work with 32 bit win 7.

So, reinstall win7 in the 32 bit version. Although Digidesign does not guarantee it to work, it does work just fine.

If I were you, I'd make a dual boot system like this:

Use Acronis Disk Director to resize the current operating system partition to one third the size. Make a second partion in the middle third of the hard disk. Format this new partition to NTFS.

Use a Win 7 disk to install the 32 bit version to that new ntfs partition. (The reason you install in a formatted partion rather than an unpartitioned section, is to prevent a an extra system partition from being created)

Set up a boot selector to dual boot. (You'll have to figure thus out)

The last third of the drive is slower, which is why I did not recommend using the last third of the drive.

Is that correct Mr Thread Starter, you have a 64 bit system?

These are the kinds of topics that sometimes muddies the already muddy water. When you say, it doesn't want to work, what does that mean exactly? Is there an error message, and if so, what does it say? Or does it start installing and hang halfway through?

You original questions is:
Just got Windows 7- have mbox 2 pro. what do i do??
The answer is wait until Digidesign writes and tests a version of Protools that is written to work with Windows 7. In the mean time continue to use your old system for Protools. I'm not trying to be a smart *****. It is the reality of the situation.

You might have to use Grub as the boot selector. It's free from Linux sites. Windows7 does not use boot.ini and i could not figure out how to add an xp operating system to the Win7's bootloader. So I am using Grub as the boot selector. It was easier for me to figure out.

FWIW it has been my experience to install the XP system first then W7 in a dual-boot scenario. i always had trouble with managin' the bootloader with W7 installed first. and currently i have a 6 OS boot drive. but might be user error but that's been my experience
