Default Pro Tools 7.4 and Windows Vista 64 bit

I see that there is a link in the Sticky about PT and Windows, but it seems to simply take me to a page of Avid ads which I'm afraid I'm a little tired of clicking back and forth through. My apologies.

I recently purchased the MBox 2 Factory Bundle which included PT 7.4 and when I try to run it on my Vista 64 bit computer I receive the "Pro Tools Application has stopped working" error message, I tried the run as administrator option which did not work.

Any other ideas? This is becoming very frustrating. Thanks in advance.

7.4 is not compatible with 64 bit operating systems.

Thanks JSM40. Do you happen to know if the 8.0.3 upgrade designed for Windows 7 will work or of any other options?

The 8.0.3 upgrade with the beta driver will sometimes (depending on hardware) run adequately in Windows7/64bit. Vista is far less likely.

Did you buy it used, or new. If purchased new you should received the 8 upgrade for free.

I bought it new and received an email with an upgrade option email after registering. Is 8 compatible?

Thanks for your input and patience. It's times like these that I realize how my computing skills are lacking.

Compatible with Vista 64 (maybe) But it's not a best shot scenario. But you can try it. It is documented that some people get it to work. With 8.0.3 CS2 on Win 7 64, for the most part it works great. Just not for everybody. But you have to try it to see.

Thanks! I'm downloading the upgrade right now. Hopefully this will work.
