Default Upgrade to Pro Tools 11?

I’m still running on 10.0 and need to upgrade to 11 so I can run my soundtoys plug-ins bundle I have.. but I’m hesitant because I’ve heard that the upgrade will affect my tracks, older plugins etc. I have my hard drive backed up on an external but I’m not that computer savvy so I’m still feeling like I could mess up all my old stuff, which is over 150 songs. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi & welcome to the DUC!

Heaps easier & cheaper to stay with Pro Tools 10, as it appears you can use Soundtoys 32-bit plug-ins (without the new features and bug fixes):

December 2, 2020
https://support.soundtoys.com/articl...bit-installers

Soundtoys 5.3.2 for Windows (32-bit)

“We have officially discontinued support for 32-bit plug-ins. With macOS Catalina requiring all applications to be 64-bit, and with the vast majority of our PC customers using 64-bit plug-ins, we decided it was the right time to end 32-bit support.
However, we understand that some users still need time to transition away from 32-bit plug-ins, so we have made our final 32-bit versions available to download. Please keep in mind, these versions will not be updated with new features and bug fixes.”

Where is everything installed to?

Windows:

32-bit VST: C:\ Program Files (x86) \ Steinberg \ VSTPlugins \ Soundtoys

32-bit AAX: C:\ Program Files(x86) \ Common Files \ Avid \ Audio \ Plug-Ins \ Soundtoys

Presets: C:\ Users \ Public \ Public Documents \ Soundtoys \ Soundtoys 5

Additional Materials (32-bit): C:\ Program Files (x86) \ Soundtoys

Awesome thank you so much for the reply!
So does that mean I can just download the 32 bit versions and it will work fine but just nothing beyond that? Sorry if it’s a dumb question.

If you own it, download & install the “Soundtoys 5 Bundle” - otherwise, use the individual installers for what you own.

Should be good to go – please post again if it’s not.

First off – you should update your Pro Tools 10 to Pro Tools 10.3.10 by downloading and installing:
Pro Tools 10.3.10 Installer (Win) (1.77 GB)
From the link above “Related Articles” on this page:

https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...3-10-Downloads

You need the Softube Bundle Authorization on your iLok.
Download and install the latest version of iLok License Manager:
Windows 32-bit Windows 7 or above
From:
https://www.ilok.com/#!license-manager

In iLok License Manager, left-click on your iLok in the left-hand column to show what licenses are listed.
If your Softube Bundle is not listed, go to the top menu:
View>Available Licenses
If your Softube Bundle is there, drag it to your iLok in the left-hand column
Wait a bit for the move to finish
Right-click on your iLok and select “Synchronize”
Restart computer
Launch Pro Tools

Good luck - makes sense to grab the $'s while there's extra work going!

Have a good friend here who delivers mail - he always keeps some dog biscuits in his pocket to get past the "fang fans"

Great advice above Back on the idea of moving up to 11(or newer), there are a few things to consider:
1-What hardware are you using? If its HD cards(TDM), PT11 won't work.
2-Every plugin will need to be updated to AAX64. Some may be free, but others may incur some charges.
3-Because of the major changes involved, it would be better to start with a fresh(clean) system drive(keep the old system drive just as it is, so you can revert to it in case of a disaster). Match the OS to the version of PT you get. Install everything fresh(so you don't end up with a bloated system drive filled with bunches of RTAS plugins that no longer work).
4-PT 10 is still a capable platform(I know folks that are still on PT8 or 9), but you are missing out on some great features like off-line BTD and the extra performance of 64 bit Pro Tools(but you might not miss something you never had)
