Do I have to buy a new Midi Interface
I am moving my 001 from a 9600 to a new computer G4 to be exact. I am using the Studio 64xtc as my midi interface. However, it only uses the mac modem port for communication. Is there some sort of USB to Mac modem connector I could buy? or, Do I have to invest in a brand new midi interface (Hope not).

Re: Do I have to buy a new Midi Interface
Can you not use the midi interface that's built in to the 001? That's what I use on my G4 and it works great. It's recognized by Audio-Midi Setup in OS X and it works with all my apps.

I could but the nature of the work I do requires more than 16 midi channels at times and I need smpte sync.

Re: Do I have to buy a new Midi Interface
I tried a Belkin USB converter 4 or 5 years ago and it ended up not working with anything MIDI. Couple of months after I bought it Belkin announces that it only works with some devices-- all of which were printers. Haven't looked in a while but I'd be suprised if anyone still made such a thing since apple hasn't supported those connections in 5 years.
Who knows, there may be something available and things may have changed, but it would probably be pretty expensive and you'd be better off getting a new MIDI interface anyway. That way your not dealing with legacy products and there's less likelyhood of problems. --- c

Re: Do I have to buy a new Midi Interface
For a new computer, yes you need some adapter...
if you keep yr 9600, just use the Griffin serial Midi Driver for OSX... go to Griffin technology website... they have a G4 serial adapter... but what is even better is they have a serial driver for a standard MIDI interface... try this and get yr MIDI back in action.. (i use this for my PM8600 running OSX Jaguar, PTLE6.1.2 but i only use the serial driver for OSX... i have not upgraded my computer, using Xpostfacto for OSX

Re: Do I have to buy a new Midi Interface
I have an Opcode Studio 128X working without any problem on my G4 DP, using the GeeThree Stealth serial card, which is here: GeeThree Website
Before buying, I asked the same question to Griffin and GeeThree. One took four weeks to answer me. So I choosed the other one who answered the same day...
