Default Pops and clicks DIGI 002 rack ---anybody else

I get random pops and clicks on mic/line inputs 2 and 3 when I am in record ready mode. These sounds are not only audible but can be read on peak meters and actually record to disk when recording. At first I thought it might be crappy cables or even problems with my firewire cable. I changed all and still have the problem. I recently installed a new power harness, thinking that might be the problem. No success. What I did tonight was disconnect everything except the power cable, firewire, and monitor outs and I still get pops. The pops even occur when trims are at zero. I don't know what else to do. Anybody know what is going on? I am running an Allenstein system and all I use my computer for is Pro Tools.
Thanks in advance
DL

SOunds like you need to ship it to DIGI for a repair. Assuming they use IC chips in the pre's (which most inexpensive preamps do), a bad chip will make those kinds of sounds.

Do you have an AMD 64 bit processor? Are you trying to record at 64? If you answered yes to both of these questions then move your H/W buffer to 128 and your problems will go away.

I have an Athlon 64 3400 and can record at 64 samples without any trouble at all.

On my old computer, I used to get clicks and pops recording at higher sample rates because the computer was too slow. These got recorded to disk.
