Default Core Audio for Vista?

Does anyone know if there is a core audio driver for Vista yet? I want to use my MBox with Sonar 8. I wish I never purchased a vista machine, its a pain in the bottom when it comes to driver support and pro audio...!

"Core audio" is a Mac term. In Vista it's the ASIO driver that would be used with Sonar.
The ASIO driver is installed with Pro Tools.

In Sonar, go to

Options > Audio > Audio Options > General tab

and assign the Digidesign ASIO driver there.

Thanks for your quick reply JM but I've have already been there and tried that. The Digidesign ASIO driver isn't an option on my system in Sonar. I tried reruning the wave profiler and reinstalling Sonar and still no Digidesign ASIO Driver in Sonar

What version of Pro Tools?
I'm going to have to speak XP here as I'm not a Vista user.
Hopefully you can translate.

To make sure the ASIO driver was installed, go to Add or Remove Programs, find Digi/Pro Tools on the list. Choose "Change/Remove" or (Vista equil.) and then "Modify" on the next menu.
Make sure the Digidesign ASIO driver has a check mark by it on the component list.
Don't uncheck anything already checked off.
Follow the rest of the prompts and try Sonar setup again.

Good luck-

I forget what it's called but there actually is an equivalent of core audio that was announced as being part of vista.

Cool Bob. Thanks for the heads up.
Vista "Core Audio API"... interesting stuff at Wiki and Msdn.
Wonder if Digi will be able to use this eventually in place of ASIO and Wave drivers...?

I think the roadblock has been the audio interface developers.
